Tote Stadt translates into English from German as Dead City. Tote Stadt is the
name of Andrew Seal and Lacy Folga's latest collaborative musical effort. Tote
Stadt is an amalgamation of sounds, styles and genres. Employing the most
extreme sounds of punk, industrial, and harsh noise, Tote Stadt have created
their own unique sound, with minimal equipment and "typical" musical skill.
Using the same equipment since the projects' inception in 1997, Seal and Folga
have toured sporadically in the United States, as well as tours of Europe in

The most introspective thing i may have heard from Menche. Octobers Larynx
slowly flashes into oblivion, like the droning, silenced wailing in a faroff
canyon. Deep groans and tinkling myriads gather in the foreground of the
listeners hearing. Things grow up, lean out and dissolve. Haunting, desolate,
spooky. The running course of this disc makes it seem short, but so much packed
into its length. Such is the temporal distortion of this dreamy, deathlike opus.
Ambient? Yes, but very organic, seeming to still harbor the violent face of
Menches work somehow....and always dark. Great artwork by the way. Like Edward
Gorey, but not so whimsical

The story goes that after his mother passed away, John Hudak found a tape from
an answering machine that still had a message from her. In homage he created
this entire disc from that recording. What results is a sentimental, obscured,
soundscapish and yet gently-noised set of aural situations. Mechanical, gritty
textures flow into sweeter, more melancholy triptychs of tone. No tracks are
listed, but several meek scenes come into view and fall away again. There is
very little of what could be recognized as a mothers voice here, except perhaps
in the nostalgic impressions left behind for Hudak…or the conscious listener.
Deep, thoughtful listens seem to evoke the feeling of looking through someones
scrapbook…or is it the knowledge of what this work is inspired by that makes us
think that?

combines contrasting elements thus obtaining a sort of dualism. Soft atmospheres
with hard lyrics, presence of elements stolen from the most humble popular
tradition, integrated to the synthetic sonority post-industrial. The nazi-fetishism
( which can be found in the artwork ) is also ambiguously treated, there are
moments that will be really appreciated by nazi porno movies lovers...warm
shades of the 70's flamed by thoughts provocatively masochist. The persevering
use of samples with a wast usage of effects on Tairy's voice intertwine
themselves blending into each other. Bizarre and sought-after choice of CD's
size ( packaging for 7" ) suitable to contain this crazy opera. Too many words?

more death industrial materiell pull the listener in it´s ban.
It´s difficult to put this surprising
structured recording in any drawer of

After the great LP on a german label Art Konkret can present another
production of the french project PPF. The
tracks range form distorted rythms to
crunchy sounds mixed with intensive cut ups. Low frequencies and noise
effects, combined with distorted french vocals
put the listener in a jouney back to the
roots of industrial music. You can file the sound under power
electronics, obviously produced with analogous
equipment. But the sounds are not so
dirty and in a more rhythmical way. You will find intensive bassy
